May 5, 2018 @ 12:49

Over 500 candidates for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) signed a peace covenant on Friday, May 4.

The city’s Commission on Elections (Comelec), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Philippine National Police (PNP) were also part of the covenant for the peaceful and orderly polls on May 14.

Mayor Crisostomo Garbo, who was also present in the event, said that the candidates came from the 27 villages in the city.

He encouraged everyone to keep the elections fair and just and to prevent conflicts, which could cause harm to any one.

He also reiterated the importance of “serving the people and not being served by them.”

The candidates recited the “Integrity Pledge” during the event.

“The signing marks the commitment of each aspiring public servant to stay true to their promises and maintain a clean and fair fight during the said elections,” the city government said.
