Under the leadership of Lubao Mayor Esmeralda Pineda, the municipality was cited for its “selfless commitment in promoting and protecting the health of the people of Central Luzon, and for outstanding performance in the achievement of Universal Health Care goals.”

Pineda personally received the awards from Health Undersecretary Eric Tayag and Center for Health Development regional director Corazon Flores in ceremonies held on December 13.

Lubao was the only town in Pampanga and among only 10 municipalities to be awarded in the region, namely Cabiao, Nueva Ecija; Dinalungan and Dingalan, Aurora; Orani, Bataan; San Clemente, Tarlac; Balagtas, Hagonoy, and Baliuag, Bulacan; and Castillejos, Zambales.

Lubao programs for Maternal, Newborn, Child Health and Nutrition and Reproductive Health also received the Bronze Champion Award.

The prize acknowledges the efforts of the LGUs in achieving “targets and deliverables related to the life-stage programs of Family Health, noteworthy of recognition, replication, and continual improvement.”
