Lubao execs launch bamboo planting activity
The municipal government of Lubao in Pampanga has launched a bamboo planting activity in cooperation with the Philippine Bamboo Inc. and Insular Foundation.
The event was held at Sta. Catalina last Friday, officials said.
In attendance were Lubao Mayor Esmeralda Pineda, Philippine Bamboo Inc. President Ed Manda, Tere Melad of Insular Foundation.
The participants planted 480 propagules of kawayang tinik, kawayang kiling, and yellow bamboos in a 3-hectare land along the Porac-Gumain River.
According to Danilo Aquino, Municipal Planning and Development Officer, bamboo planting is one of the Lubao government’s efforts to provide livelihood to communities from bamboo crafts and products.
