Kintanar named new Air Force chief
The retirement of Lieutenant General Edgar Fallorina as commanding general of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) marked the beginning of a new career for Lt. Gen. Galileo Gerard Kintanar, Jr.
Taking over Fallorina’s post, Lieutenant General Galileo Gerard Kintanar, Jr. said on Tuesday that he will retain the PAF’s focus on national and maritime security.
President Rodrigo Duterte led the PAF change of command and Fallorina’s retirement ceremony at Clark Air Base in Mabalacat, Pampanga.
Duterte, as commander in chief, presented the Philippine Legion of Honor with the degree of Commander and the citation to the outgoing PAF Commanding General. He also handed the Command Symbol (Saber) to the incoming PAF Commanding General before delivering the keynote speech.
In his speech, Duterte urged members of the Philippine Air Force to prepare for the persisting threats of terrorism in the country after the Marawi crisis, while martial law is still in effect in Mindanao.
