Jan 23 a special holiday in Bulacan to mark anniv of 1st PH republic
January 23 is a special nonworking holiday in Bulacan province in observance of the founding anniversary of the First Philippine Republic, according to a proclamation signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.
Under Proclamation 1077 issued by Malacanang on Tuesday, there will be no work and class in Bulacan to mark the occasion.
“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the province of Bulacan be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies, subject to community quarantine, social distancing, and other public health measures,” according to the proclamation.
On January 23, 1899, revolutionary hero Emilio Aguinaldo became the first president of the first Philippine republic established in Malolos, Bulacan.
