A total of 204 members of indigenous peoples (IP) communities in Bataan and Zambales provinces took part in a workshop organized by the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP).
Dubbed as “Healing Reconciliation and Operationalizing the 11 Building Blocks in the Ancestral Domain in support of Executive Order 70,” the event was held at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone and attended by officials from the military, the police, and government agencies, local and national.
According to NCIP Chairperson Allen Capuyan, ancestral domains cannot be developed without taking into account the problems of security and without the cooperation of government agencies working together.
He said there was a need to operationalize the 11 building blocks so that ancestral domains become more resilient, responsive and relevant to problems facing IPs.
According to NCIP OIC-Regional Director Roman Antonio, one of his dreams is to improve IP communities’ access to different agencies of the government to improve relations for better cooperation.
