Imee to Pampanga farmers Plant ingredients for chop suey instead of pinakbet

Senator Imee Marcos has encouraged farmers in Pampanga province to farm crops with huge market demand to raise their earnings.

Addressing beneficiaries of the Young Farmers Challenge and Enhanced Kadiwa at the Pampanga State Agricultural University in Magalang town, the senator cited the importance of planting crops that were in demand in the market.

“Dapat kung ano ang in-demand sa market, yun ang itatanim ninyo,” she said in a Philippine News Agency report.

The senator encouraged farmers to switch from low-priced vegetables including “pinakbet” ingredients – eggplant, okra and squash – to ingredients for chop suey, such as cauliflower and bell paper.

“Ang baba ng presyo ng mga gulay pang pinakbet at ang taas ng presyo ng mga gulay pang chopsuey. Kaya mag-level up na from pinakbet to chopsuey,” Marcos was quoted as saying.
