House panel questions Ex-Gov Lapid over Paskuhan Village sale
Former Pampanga governor Mark Lapid is in hot water after a House panel on August 30 questioned the sale of the Paskuhan Village in San Fernando City by the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA).
The Pampanga politiko was the former chief of TIEZA.
Cebu 3rd District Representative Gwen Garcia asked why Lapid approved the sale despite a provision of the Tourism Act of 2009 giving San Fernando City the right to first refusal.
But Lapid said the sale of the Paskuhan Village “was to the best interest of the government and that the privatization of the facility was best option recommended by the consultants of TIEZA.”
“I did air my sentiments as coming from Pampanga during our ‘off the record session’ but it was a majority decision,” Lapid added.
