House committee approves ‘Metro Bataan’ bill

Feb 9, 2018 @ 4:42

The efforts of Bataan 2nd District Rep. Jose Enrique “Joet” Garcia III weren’t put to waste when House Bill 1418 or the Act Creating Metro Bataan Development Authority (MBDA) was approved during the recent meeting of the Committee on Appropriations.

Garcia said the primary objective of the MBDA is to establish a single entity that will integrate and coordinate the delivery of basic services from the national level to the city and municipalities of the Province of Bataan.

Garcia’s Bill also seeks to implement a centralized coordinating scheme that will enforce laws and supervise the distribution of funds to the whole province.

The proposed bill will group cities and municipalities according to their needs and availability of resources.

The MBDA was first filed by the late congressman Enrique Tet Garcia, Jr. in 2014.

The bill aims to supervise province-wide projects with an authority to set, enforce, and impose policies regarding traffic.

It will also require all its member cities and municipalities to contribute a portion of its annual revenue for its operation and implementation of projects.
