Gov’t officials plant bamboo seedlings in New Clark City
A group pushing for bamboo industry development in Central Luzon recently gathered government officials to plant bamboo seedlings at the site of the soon to rise National Government Administrative Center (NGAC) at the New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac province.
Public Works Secretary Mark Villar, Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, and Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) president and CEO Vince Dizon attended the ceremonial tree planting initiated by the Central Luzon Bamboo Industry Development (CLBIDP) and the BCDA.
The activity, held on January 23, demonstrated the national government’s commitment to protecting the environment and ensuring substantial economic growth.
Bamboo seedlings were planted around the 200-hectare NGAC.
Phase 1 of the government center is set to be completed in time for the Philippines’ hosting of the Southeast Asian Games in 2019.
