GMA virtually assured of House comeback, runs unopposed
Former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has no opponents in the race for the congressional seat of Pampanga’s second district, guaranteeing her comeback at the House of Representatives.
According to the Commission on Elections’ certified list of candidates, no other person filed a certificate of candidacy to run against the former Speaker.
The 74-year-old Arroyo will replace her son, outgoing Pampanga Rep. Mikey Arroyo, who announced a break from politics to concentrate on his business.
The former President is running as the candidate of Lakas-CMD, of which she is president emeritus.
Arroyo served three consecutive terms as Pampanga representative and became Speaker of the House from 2018 to 2019.
