Get ready to witness another weekend of “everything that flies.”
Feel free to take the phrase quite literally, for the province of Pampanga will once again host the Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta (PIHABF) which will be held at the Omni Aviation Complex in Clark from Feb. 8-11.
The 22nd edition of the festival will showcase 26 unique hot air balloons from all over the world—with different shapes, styles, and themes.
Some of the special balloons to anticipate this year are the Happy Heart, Matryoshka Russian Doll, Queen’s Guard, Giant Strawberry, Buddy Balloon, Captain Jack, Princess Nellie, Vostok Balloon, Master Yoda, Morris the Donkey, Bruno the Clown and Pepe the Hedgehog.
This year’s activities include morning and afternoon hot air balloon flights, skydiving, paragliding and general aviation aircraft flights.
The PIHABF has been celebrated for over two decades, making it the longest-running sports aviation event in Asia.
The event aims to cultivate public interest in aviation as a legitimate sport and to boost tourism in Clark and the Philippines in general.
Last year, a total of 107,950 visitors flocked to the event. Organizers are expecting a bigger turnout for this year’s installment.
