Bataan Governor Jose Enrique Garcia III said he was proud of the progress of the provincial government in implementing the Universal Healthcare Act in the province.
“Natutuwa kami na kahit mahirap ay marami ang nakikita naming progress at development lalo na sa bayan ng Samal at Dinalupihan na nagsimula ng pilot ay kahit papano mai-share na nila,” he said during the Bataan Health Summit at the Bataan People’s Center in Balanga City.
The governor noted that since 2019, the Bataan provincial government had already started piloting universal health care, especially the primary health care system.
Garcia was the former representative of the second district.
“Bilang bahagi ng nagsulat din ng UHC law, ang aming intensyon para talagang makatulong sa lahat ng mga kababayan tulad sa mga kabataan na sila ay magkaroon ng healthy lifestyle at ito ay matutunan nila sa mga paaralan at sa tahanan,” Garcia said.
At the same event, acting Health Secretary Maria Rosario Vergeire expressed optimism that Bataan province would be able to fully implement the provisions of the UHC law.
“Ipinakita ninyong lahat na kayang-kaya basta sama-sama,” the Department of Health chief said.
