Fish kill hits 100-hectare Bulacan ponds
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) has deployed a team in Bulacan following a reported fish kill affecting about 100 hectares of fishponds in Obando.
BFAR Central Luzon said one of the possible causes of the fish kill could be the earthquake that was felt in the area over the weekend.
The hot temperature could also have an effect on the fish, authorities said.
The tons of milkfish floating in the ponds would be buried to prevent any disease from spreading, BFAR regional office said.
The agency also assured that assistance would be extended to the pond operators.
