Ex-NPA squad leader surrenders to gov’t in Bulacan

An alleged former squad leader of the New People’s Army (NPA) voluntarily surrendered to authorities in Bulacan province.

The surrenderer was identified as “Ka Artur,” 24, who gave himself up to the authorities led by joint elements of the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, Provincial Intelligence Unit-Bulacan, and other police and military units.

The man also turned over a .38-caliber revolver without a serial number and six pieces of live ammunition.

He is currently under the custody of the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company for investigation and custodial debriefing.

The Bulacan police said they were committed to intensifying their campaign against insurgency and terrorism in order to provide social services, employment opportunities, and improved quality of life in communities affected by armed communist conflict.
