DSWD bats for ‘womb to tomb’ services for vulnerable sector in Region 3

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Central Luzon assured the public that its livelihood aid for vulnerable sectors amid the pandemic will continue.
According to DSWD Regional Director Marites Maristela, the agency has several comprehensive social welfare programs and services to address the welfare needs of various disadvantaged sectors.
“We have services from womb to tomb, meaning we have programs from pre-marriage counseling to programs for the elderly,” she said in a Philippine Information Agency report.
“These social welfare programs were developed to cater to the needs of the youth, abandoned and neglected children, disadvantaged women, elderly, persons with disabilities, and former rebels,” Maristela said.
She noted that as a member of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, DSWD is implementing a sustainable livelihood program by giving livelihood settlement grants to former rebels.
