The Department of Social Welfare and Development has provided cash aid amounting to P25 million to workers of the Bataan freeport under the initiative of the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB).

According to AFAB information officer Hazel Keith Elloren, the DSWD’s assistance to individuals in crisis situation (AICS) under the FABayanihan project had benefited some 8,339 workers.

Each worker received cash assistance of P3,000 thanks to the DSWD programs.

The most recent payout occurred on June 17-18, amounting to P5 million for 1,672 workers who were affected by stricter protocols under the modified enhanced community quarantine.

Elloren said health and safety guidelines were implemented strictly during the distribution of the cash assistance. Senior citizens, pregnant women and people with medical conditions or disabilities were given priority.
