Drugs suspect dies, 2 others fall in Bulacan
A suspected illegal drugs peddler died while two others were apprehended in the relentless anti-narcotics operations Sunday of the Bulacan police.
Bulacan police chief Sr. Supt. Chito Bersaluna, in a statement on Monday, identified the slain suspect as Joey Castillon, while the apprehended suspects are Glen Mark Cejes, 22, and Jonas dela Rosa, 48.
Citing a report from the Meycauayan City Police that conducted the operation on Sunday evening, Castillon fired upon a policeman who acted as a poseur buyer of illegal drugs, prompting the latter to shoot back.
Authorities recovered from the scene one caliber .38 revolver loaded with two fired cartridges and one ammunition for caliber .38, nine fired cartridge cases for caliber .9mm, one deformed slug, five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected ‘shabu,’ one black digital weighing scale, and one P500-bill marked money.
Cejes and dela Rosa, meanwhile, were nabbed in separate buy-bust operations by police in San Miguel and Calumpit towns, respectively.
Police recovered from them 10 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected ‘shabu’ and buy-bust money.
Charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition, as well Direct Assault, are being prepared against the two.
The Philippine National Police ‘Project Double Barrel Reloaded’ is in compliance with President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive to end the illegal drugs problem in the country, even if it could turn deadly.
