DOST scales up production of ‘enhanced Nutribun’ in Bulacan

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is scaling up production of “enhanced Nutribun” in Bulacan province.

The project is part of the supplemental feeding program in the province.

According to DOST Secretary Renato Solidum, the Nutribun program was the agency’s contribution to the “Bringing in Resources for Everyone’s Agenda on Kalusugan, Kabuhayan, Kaalaman at Kaunlaran sa Bulacan for Malnutrition Reduction Program” or the BREAK4 MRP.

The program was formed on the strength of Republic Act 11148.

Officials said 10 bakeries in Bulacan entered into Technology Licensing Agreements with the DOST and underwent training in making the enhanced Nutribun.

The 10 received Technology Certifications Award to prove they are authorized to recreate the recipe and formula developed by the Food and Nutrition Research Institute or FNRI.

The bakeries are Loubelle Bakery and PNR Bakeshop in Malolos City, Cuevas Bakery and Sapang Palay National High School Multipurpose Cooperative in San Jose Del Monte City, E.V. Cuevas in Santa Maria, Bag of Sweet Bite Bakeshop in Marilao, Gintong Kusina Producers Cooperative in Guiguinto, Actions Hub Philippines Inc. in Plaridel, Pasalubong Foods Inc. in Pulilan, and Danrich in Baliwag.
