DOST chief gives advice to inventors, researchers at Bulacan school

Science and Technology Secretary Renato Solidum has advised inventors and researchers at Bulacan State University to ensure that ordinary citizens also benefit from their creations.

The head of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) made the remarks during an inspection of the results of research and development at the Bulacan university, saying successful inventors and researchers must not only earn profits but also touch the hearts of others.

This, he said in a Philippine Information Agency report, will create wealth for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through the effective use of scientific and technological innovations. It will also provide opportunities to improve the living standards of ordinary Filipinos.

Over the past nearly five years, DOST has contributed P27 million to various university research and development programs, according to the PIA report.

The largest amount, P10 million, was given by DOST to establish the BARAS Technology Business Incubation, which focuses on Business Assistance for Research Acceleration and Sustainability to promote innovation and technopreneurship and help build a livelihood that contributes to the country’s development.
