DOLE extends livelihood assistance to 25 Arayat pedicab drivers
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has provided pedicabs to 25 beneficiaries in Arayat, Pampanga.
The pedicabs worth around P495,000 were turned over recently to the recipients under the “DOLE Padyak Project,” said DOLE-3 Regional Director Zenaida Angara-Campita.
The livelihood provision, intended to uplift the town’s marginalized residents, was sourced from the labor agency’s DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program otherwise known as “DILEEP,” she said.
The local government of Arayat has provided a counterpart assistance of P125,000 used for initial payments of social protection benefits, such as SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG, of the beneficiaries.
The local government’s aid was also used for the provision of beneficiaries’ long sleeves for work and Entrepreneurial Development Training (EDT) to ensure the proper management of their pedicabs.
Campita said the pedicab drivers are projected to earn at least P300 – P500 a day.
