Diño bares BADAC to be reorganized during Pampanga summit
Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary for Barangay Affairs Martin Diño has said that the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) would be reorganized.
In the Pampanga Barangay Officials Summit 2018 held recently at Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando City, Diño said the DILG would issue a new memorandum on the reactivation of BADACs.
He warned that heavier sanctions would be imposed against barangay officials who would fail to reorganize their respective BADACs.
The DILG official said the administration is banking on the local officials to address illegal drug problem in the country.
“One of the most powerful officials is the barangay captains. Kayo ang chief of police, mayor, governor at presidente ng inyong mga barangay,” he said.
BADAC is considered the first line of defense against the proliferation of prohibited drugs in the community. Its members include the barangay officials and barangay sectoral representatives who have first-hand information about the members of the community.
Also present in the summit were Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda, Vice-Governor Dennis Pineda, DILG-3 Director Julie Daquioag, DILG-Pampanga Director Myrvi Fabia, provincial board members, city and municipal mayors.
