‘Di lang si Ninoy ang may airport! House OKs bill renaming Clark airport after GMA’s dad
The Clark International Airport in Pampanga may soon be called the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport.
The House of Representatives on Tuesday approved on second reading House Bill 8649, which seeks to rename the Clark International Airport after the father of former President and now House Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
Macapagal was the ninth President of the Philippines and the first to come from Pampanga.
In seeking to rename Clark Airport, proponents of the bill acknowledged the contributions Macapagal made not just for Pampanga but for the country.
Buhay party-list Rep. Lito Atienza, an ally of Arroyo, said during the interpellation period that Macapagal was “well loved” not just by Kapampangans but by all Filipinos.
