DBM okays over 8,000 teaching positions in Central Luzon

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved the creation of over 8,000 teaching positions in public schools in Central Luzon.
Of the said positions, 4,617 are for kinder/elementary schools; 3,369 for junior high schools; and 33 for senior high school.
The teaching positions formed for Region III are included in the total 75,242 teaching positions that the DBM approved nationwide for school year 2018-2019.
“This is in line with the request made by the Department of Education (DepEd) in order to address the inadequate number of teaching personnel in public schools nationwide,” DBM said in a statement.
The funding requirements to cover salaries and other forms of compensation for the new positions shall be charged against the Fiscal Year 2018 Built-in Appropriations or the New School Personnel Positions, it added.
