September 20, 2017 is truly a historic day for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community in the Philippines.

This is because pro-LGBT rights lawmakers were able to have the Sexual Orientation or Gender Identity or Expression (SOGIE) Equality Bill passed on 3rd and final reading at the House of Representatives!

Of course, Bataan 1st District Representative Geraldine Roman was happy.

“Mark this historic day. After a 19-year struggle since it was first proposed, the House of Representatives of the 17th Congress overwhelmingly passed SOGIE Equality Bill on third reading, with 197 affirmative votes, no negative votes and no abstentions,” said Roman.

She is the first transgender politiko in the country.

Party na ito, mga #EqualityChamps! Pero the battle continues at the Senate.
