DAR awards land to 113 farmers in Tarlac
The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently awarded 113 farmers in Tarlac with certificates of land ownership.
The beneficiaries of the agrarian reform program were from the towns of Anao, Capas, Concepcion, Moncada,, San Jose, San Manuel, Tarlac City and Victoria.
The farmers were given 135 hectares of prime agricultural lands in the province. A total of 124 DAR-assisted agrarian reform beneficiary organizations is expected to gain from the program.
According to DAR Acting Secretary John Castriciones, the recent distribution of land certificates is part of the continuous effort of the agency to give the farmers’ share of agricultural lands under Republic Act No. 9700 or the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program Extension with Reforms Law.
This project is also in line with DAR’s goal to institutionalize housing, livelihood and scholarship programs for the farmers’ wives or husbands.
The bureau also wants to prevent selling, leasing and mortgaging of farmers’ certificates of land ownership awards in order to sustain their families’ basic needs.
