Thousands of farmers and fisherfolks in Central Luzon received cash and food subsidy from Department of Agriculture (DA), according to the Philippine Information Agency.
In a PIA report, DA Regional Director Crispulo Bautista Jr. said the aid aims to provide direct food and financial assistance worth P5,000 per farmer or fisherfolk.
“Each beneficiary will receive PhP3,000 financial aid and PhP2,000 food subsidy which include eggs, poultry, and rice,” he said.
Bautista added that eligible recipients are those registered with the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture.
In Central Luzon, target beneficiaries include 979 corn farmers; 2,632 coconut farmers; 968 sugarcane farmers; 2,261 indigenous farmers; and 10,200 fisherfolks.
A budget of P4.5 billion was allocated for the project nationwide, according to the report.
