The Department of Agriculture (DA) in Central Luzon has recognized four outstanding women in the agriculture and fisheries sector.

With the theme “Recognizing Juana during the Pandemic” on October 12, the event was organized by the Gender and Development Focal Point System and held at the DA Conference Hall inside the Capitol Compound in San Fernando City.

The honored women for 2021 are the Outstanding Young Farmer, Andrea Lindsay Duran from Barangay Basuit, San Ildefonso, Bulacan; Outstanding Women Educator, Redemcion Ramoso from Barangay Sto. Christ, Mary Aurora, Aurora; Outstanding Women Entrepreneur, Aurora Manglicmot from Barangay Laoag, Cabangan, Zambales, and Outstanding Rural Women, Annette Patdu from Barangay Sta. Barbara, Bacolor, Pampanga.

The recognition is held annually by the department to recognize women who make outstanding contributions to the agriculture and fisheries sector.

“Through our Gender and Development Program, we also aim to give women the opportunity to participate in more aspects of life and livelihood and to recognize and value their support to the family, the community and the economy of the country,” Regional GAD Focal Person of Central Luzon Dr. Irene Adion said.

“Honoring the unique women that we do is a way to inspire women to stand out, identify and show elegance,” she added.
