Covid-19 death toll in Region 3 at almost 6K

A total of 5,962 people have died of Covid-19 in Central Luzon, according to the latest tally of the Department of Health (DOH).

The DOH figures showed that as of the weekend, the total number of confirmed cases in Region 3 has reached 279,977.

Of that, only 2,100 cases, or just one percent of the total, were active, 271,915 have already recovered and 5,962 died.

The vaccination rate in Central Luzon has reached the midway point with 43.46 percent of the target population now fully inoculated against Covid-19, according to the DOH tally.

The DOH reported that 3.8 million in Region 3 have already received a full dose of the vaccine.

To reach herd immunity, at least 70 percent of the total population needs to be immunized.

As of the latest report, some 5.5 million persons have received the first dose of the vaccine in Central Luzon, representing 62 percent of the population.
