Two alleged drug pushers were killed and nine others were arrested, while a policeman was injured in simultaneous anti-illegal drug operations in Pampanga, police said Wednesday.

Pampanga Provincial Police Office chief Senior Supt. Nicolas Salvador said the buy-bust operations conducted by Mexico and Apalit Municipal Police Stations (MPS) turned into armed encounters after the suspects allegedly sensed that they were transacting with the police operatives.

The suspects allegedly fired toward the operating teams, which prompted the operatives to exchange gunfire, resulting to their death.

The slain suspects were identified as Renato de Leon in Mexico and Jhoeann Pascual in Apalit.

Police Officer 2 Nathaniel Cuico of Apalit MPS was injured during the encounter.

Meanwhile, the nine other arrested suspects came from Macabebe, Sta. Ana, Lubao, Sasmuan, Magalang, and Guagua.
