Cop, 2 others nabbed in Mabalacat buy-bust
Three people, including a policeman, were arrested during an anti-drug operation in Mabalacat City, Pampanga, police said Saturday.
Police Regional Office 3 Director Chief Supt. Amador Corpus said Police Officer 1 Kevin Pierre Apostol, 29, Angel Pabilonia, 39, and Donato Felipe, 22, were nabbed Friday, May 11, in Pineda Subdivision, Brgy. Dau.
Apostol was an active member of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and assigned at Arayat Municipal Police Station prior to his arrest.
Seized from the suspects were nine pieces of heat sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu with estimated street value of P5,000; one piece of P500 bill marked money; one Glock 9 MM pistol loaded with 18 pieces of live ammunition; and one piece black face mask, among others.
The suspects will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and Omnibus Election Code, particularly on gun ban.
“This move of filing charges, disciplining and dismissing erring police personnel shows efforts of the PNP in removing bad eggs in the police force, and that the rule of law does not distinguish rank, position or popularity whether victim or respondent in the PNP organization. This is a clear manifestation of our keen determination to remove misfits among the ranks of our organization,” Corpus said.
