Central Luzon police ‘Adopt a Family Program’ gives aid to 2.5K families
Central Luzon police under Police Regional Office 3 said its “Adopt a Family Program’ has provided assistance to 2,464 families affected by the Covid-19 pandemic less than three weeks after launch.
The regional director, Police Brig. Gen. Rhodel Sermonia, said the beneficiaries numbered 10,886 individuals in total.
The program aims to help families who are most in need and supply them with their basic food commodities during this Enhanced Community Quarantine period.
“We are sending strong message to the public, particularly our Region 3 community, that indeed, their police, are part of their families who are providing them with support and hope especially these trying times,” Sermonia said.
“This is also a good way to prevent incidents of looting and burglary because of the “no work, no pay” situation and constraint public movement,” he added.
Sermonia said crime has dropped substantially in Central Luzon since the lockdown started.
“Relatedly, since the start of the Enhanced Community Quarantine last March 17, only 4 robbery incidents in major establishments were recorded in Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, and Pampanga,” he said.
