Central Luzon is still top chicken producer in 2022

Central Luzon is still the top chicken-producing region in the country based on figures from the first half of 2022, according to data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Region 3’s total chicken production from January to June 2022 stood at 325,523 metric tons, contributing 35.5 percent of the country’s total chicken output, the figures showed.

Calabarzon ranked second contributing 17.8 percent or an equivalent of 163,178 metric tons, while Northern Mindanao ranked third with 9.2 percent share or 84,201 metric tons production.

Central Luzon’s numbers were higher by 19.5 percent than its output for the same period last year.

The region was also still the top producer of duck in the country from January to June, with 2,678 metric tons.

In her report on Monday, PSA regional chief Arlene Divino said that although Central Luzon’s duck production was lower by 41.3 percent than its 4,563 metric tons volume of production in the same period of 2021, it did not affect the region’s ranking.

“Central Luzon’s significant performance in the national production registered 21.3 percent share despite its drop in production of 1,885 metric tons,” Divino said.
