An official of the Philippine National Police (PNP) has warned residents of Central Luzon not to buy unlabeled firecrackers as they might be unsafe or illegal.
Police Major General Eden Ugale, director of PNP Civil Security Group, said one of the common indicators of illegal firecrackers is not having proper labels.
“Dapat may label para alam natin kung saan at sino ang gumawa. Kapag walang label, posible na illegally manufactured ‘yan,” he said in a Sun Star Pampanga report.
The report said that Ugale, a native of Pampanga, made the reminder during his visit at the Police Regional Office 3 in Camp Olivas here recently.
He added that buyers must be wary of the items that they are buying, especially during this holiday season.
“Titignan namin kung ang mga nagtitinda ba ang sumusunod sa mga batas dahil seryoso ang pagpapatupad natin lalo na at buhay at kaligtasan ng tao ang pinag-uusapan,” he was quoted as saying.
