Central Luzon folks reminded: Stop burning trash to prevent grass fires
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Central Luzon is reminding the public to stop the practice of burning garbage in open area as this is a major cause of grass fires.
BFP Regional Public Information Officer Inspector Arvin Catipon said households must strictly observe the prohibition of burning of open areas or of garbage especially in the dry season.
“The misconception of many is that it is okay to burn areas or garbage as long as it is in their territories,” he said in a Philippine Information Agency report.
“We want to underscore that regardless if its outside or inside their territories, burning is still prohibited,” Catipon added.
He said violators could be charged with violations of Republic Act 9514 or the Fire Code of the Philippines, Solid Waste Management Act, and Clean Air Act.
