Candaba police destroyed a total of 80 modified and loud mufflers that were confiscated at checkpoints.
According to Lt. Col. Gerald Licyayo, chief of Candaba police, the destroyed mufflers were confiscated from riders during the conduct of checkpoints and Oplan Sita around the municipality.
“The confiscation and destruction of the loud mufflers is in compliance with the instruction of Mayor Rene Maglanque to implement the town’s Anti-Noise Ordinance,” said Licyayo in a Sun Star Pampanga report.
A stomp machine was used by the local police to destroy the modified mufflers, the report said.
Candaba Mayor Rene Maglanque and other town officials witnessed the ceremonial destruction of the mufflers.
According to Licyayo, the destruction of the pipes was a warning to motorcycle and vehicle owners to refrain from using loud mufflers.
