Calumpit Mayor de Jesus meets with JICA for railway station project
Mayor Jessie De Jesus of Calumpit, Bulacan met Friday with officials of the Japan International Cooperation Agency regarding a planned railways station project in the municipality.
The meeting was held at the conference room of the mayor’s office.
Calumpit will be part of the entire stretch of the Manila-Clark railway system that Japan will fund through a loan.
The 106-kilometer railway, which is among the Duterte administration’s “Build, Build, Build” program, will have 17 stations, including one in Calumpit.
The project, which costs P225 billion, is seen to reduce the Manila-Clark travel time to just 55 minutes, and will benefit 350,000 passengers daily.
It is expected to be completed by the last quarter of 2021.(END)
