San Fernando City Mayor Vilma Caluag has assured the safety of the city’s two steel overpasses to all types of vehicles.
The mayor gave the assurance in response to concerns regarding the conditions of bridges following the collapse of the President Carlos Romulo Bridge in Bayambang town in Pangasinan recently.
Caluag said all types of vehicles including trucks can still pass through the city’s Dolores and Lazatin overpasses.
“Safe na safe po ang ating mga overpass pati sa ating mga trucks, basta ‘wag lang overloaded,” she said in a Sun Star Pampanga report.
The mayor also reminded truck drivers to observe the prescribed weight limit to prevent damages to public infrastructures.
The Department of Public Works and Highways DPWH earlier confirmed that two overloaded trucks caused the collapse of the President Carlos Romulo bridge.
“Ang condition po ng mga overpasses natin ay maayos pero sana sumunod po ang ating mga truck drivers sa weight limit para hindi matulad sa nangyari sa Bayambang bridge,” she said in the report.
