Cabanatuan City officials issued an appeal to residents over the weekend to comply with lockdown protocols amid a surge in Covid-19 cases.

The large number of residents who tested positive for Covid-19 has led to the city hospital reaching full capacity, according to a social media post by the city government.

“Lubha pong nakababahala ang muling paglobo ng bilang ng Covid-19 sa ating lungsod,” the post read in part.

Officials noted that the 446 persons tested positive over the past week.

“Nariyan pa po ang banta ng Delta variant. Ang ating city hospital ay puno na rin po ng pasyente, at patuloy rin ang pagdami ng mga pasyente sa iba pang pribado at pampublikong ospital sa Lungsod ng Cabanatuan,” it said.

The City Health Office reported that as of August 12, Cabanatuan now has 164 active cases, out of 3,281 confirmed cases. A total of 2,943 have recovered while 174 have died of Covid-19.

“Dahil sa banta ng Covid-19 Delta variant, iniiwasan po natin na dumami ang mga taong nagpupunta sa city hall tuwing Lunes hanggang Biyernes,” the city government said.
