Bulacan Rep Villarica tests positive for Covid-19, says House secgen
Bulacan Rep. Henry Villarica tested positive for the coronavirus but was in stable condition Thursday, according to House Secretary General Jose Luis G. Montales.
On March 8, the congressman attended an event hosted by Baliwag Mayor Ferdie Estrella, who would later test positive for Covid-19 as well.
In an advisory, Montales said Villarica’s results came out only on Thursday.
On Wednesday, another House member, ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Eric Yap, announced he had tested positive for Covid-19.
On the other hand, Manila Teachers party-list Rep. Virgilio Lacson initially tested positive for the coronavirus, but a subsequent test came out negative, Montales said.
“(Villarica) last reported for work on March 4,” the House official said.
“Rep. Villarica was admitted to the hospital on March 12 for pneumonia. His condition is stable,” Montales said.
He added that members of the congressman’s staff have not exhibited any symptoms to date.
