Bulacan gov’t now accepting nominations for Gawad Dangal ng Lipi – Gov. Alvarado
Bulacan Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado urged Friday the public to nominate deserving Bulakenyos for its annual Gawad Dangal ng Lipi, an award which honors exceptional sons and daughters of the province who have excelled in different fields.
The local chief executive said there are 11 categories for the award, including Public Service, Professional, Community Service, Entrepreneur, Education, Science and Technology, Arts and Culture, Trade and Industry, Health, Agriculture, Sports, Bulakenyo Expatriate and Tanging Bulakenyo.
The Tanging Bulakenyo is the highest award given to a Bulakenyo nominee who excels in any of the awards categories stated above and with an outstanding contribution to the society, he said.
Alvarado said that the provincial government will continue to honor Bulakenyos who have legacy of excellence and who have been the pride of the province as well as the country.
“We will give recognition to the so called modern day Bulakenyo heroes for their outstanding achievements during the annual ‘Gawad Dangal ng Lipi’, the culminating activity of the Singkaban Festival celebration on September 15, 2018,” he said.
Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), which is specifically in charge of the Gawad Dangal ng Lipi, cited some of the requirements that a nominee must possess.
He/she must be born in Bulacan and resident of the province for at least five years; his/her parents must be Bulakenyos, if not, one of his/her parents must be living in Bulacan for not less than five years.
If the nominee is a spouse of a Bulakenyo or does not have a Bulakenyo blood, he/she must be a resident of province for at least 10 years with a great contribution for the betterment of Bulacan.
