Bulacan gov to lead lighting of giant Christmas tree in capitol
The provincial government of Bulacan is ready to brighten up its communities this Christmas season.
Governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado and Vice Governor Daniel Fernando are expected to lead the lighting of a 50-foot Christmas tree in front of the capitol in Malolos City on December 8.
A gift-giving program of toys and food to children from an orphanage will follow the ceremony.
According to the province’s history, arts, culture and tourism office, the Christmas tree symbolizes light, hope and unity among Bulakenyos.
The Christmas tree is made out of bamboo in Hagonoy, Bulacan and costs P100,000.
The design of the tree is an improvisation that is unique to Bulakenyos who usually make Christmas trees out of walis tingting.
