Bataan’s Roman takes helm of House Committee on Disaster Management
Bataan 1st District Representative Geraldine Roman has been named as chairman of the newly created House Committee on Disaster Management.
The Central Luzon politiko’s installation was confirmed both on the website of the Lower House of Congress, as well as on her Facebook account.
The committee will be composed of 25 members, and is mandated with all matters relating to natural and man-made calamities, including risk reduction, disaster preparedness, and recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts, the announcement Thursday on Roman’s Facebook account said.
So far, two other Central Luzon politikos – Cong. Cheryl Deloso-Montalla of Zambales and Cong. Jonathan Sy-Alvarado of Bulacan – were identified as the initial members of the committee, as well as Cong. Leopoldo Bataoil of Pangasinan.
Roman’s appointment to the committee comes at a time that the country is bracing for typhoon Ompong, which is expected to batter the northern part of Luzon this weekend.(END)
