Bataan’s new police provincial director has formally assumed his post during the change of command ceremony held in Camp Tolentino in Balanga City.
Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., Region 3 police director, led the turnover of command between incoming Bataan PD Col. Palmer Tria and outgoing PD Col. Romell Velasco.
According to a Punto Central Luzon report, Tria is a native of Morong, Bataan and was formerly assigned in Davao.
Velasco, who is married to a Bataena, assumed as Bataan police director on January 8, 2022. He will be temporarily assigned to Camp Olivas, seat of the Central Luzon police office, the report said.
Velasco is credited for the prevailing peace and order condition in Bataan, dismantling of suspected drug dens and the seizure of big volume of illegal drugs, the Punto report added.
Bataan Governor Jose Enrique Garcia III, Rep. Albert Garcia and Vice Governor Cris Garcia with other local officials attended the ceremony, the report said.
