Bataan vice gov urges public to ‘be somebody’s savior’
In celebration of his birthday, Bataan Vice Governor Cris Garcia on Friday sponsored another bloodletting program held at Vista Mall in the Balanga city.
The politiko partnered with the Philippine Red Cross-Bataan Chapter, Bataan Peninsula Lions Club, and Bataan Medical Society for the third wave of his birthday project for a cause.
Around 100 blood donors joined this year’s program, themed “Share blood, save lives, be somebody’s savior.”
The vice governor started his first bloodletting birthday project in 2015. This time, he shared the reason why he thought of launching the project in his hometown.
“Have the courage to be a blood donor before it’s too late. I started my first bloodletting birthday project last February. 2, 2015. Since I started donating blood, my immune system got better,” Garcia said.
Rjane Baek, a medical technologist for Philippines Cross-Bataan Chapter, said that blood donation helps lower the risk of cancer, maintain a healthy heart and liver and reduce the body weight of the donors.
Blood donors will also be given a donor’s ID, which they can use whenever they are in need of blood for personal medical concerns.
