Bataan Rep. Garcia encourages farmers, village officials to work together

Jan 31, 2018 @ 8:08

Bataan 2nd District Rep. Jose Enrique S. Garcia lll urged farmers and village officials to work together in developing a systematic agricultural method in order to increase farm productivity in the province.

According to Garcia, farmers need to seize the opportunity now that there is an increased demand for agricultural crops from manufacturing plants, commercial establishments, housing and welfare projects and labor-intensive micro-small-medium entrepreneurs in several designated industrial estates in different economic zones in the province.

To realize this goal, Garcia said the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) is also working to ensure a more efficient implementation of irrigation projects in Bataan. This includes providing sustainable and reliable irrigation services to local farmers.

The province is rich in fertile lands suitable for high-value crops and irrigation facilities, said Garcia. The influx of workers and their families in Bataan’s seven economic zones has increased livelihood opportunities for farming communities in Bataan as well.

He added that Bataan’s progress as a premier industrial hub in Central Luzon resulted from a solid economic development plan envisioned by the local government.
