Bataan receives 9 new fiberglass boats
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in Central Luzon on Monday distributed nine of the 200 new fiberglass fishing boats alloted for fishermen in the province of Bataan.
The ceremonial turnover of the fishing boats, which came from the Department of Agriculture (DA), was led by BFAR Director Wilberto Cruz, with Governor Abet S. Garcia receiving the fiberglass boats at the Capitol right after the flag ceremony.
In a short message, Garcia thanked DA Secretary Manny Piñol for granting their request for this package of additional livelihood for Bataan’s fishermen.
The nine patrol boats include 12 HP marine engines complete with underwater fittings and accessories. The boats will be distributed to the different municipalities of Bataan.
The project aims to intensify the implementation of Republic Act No. 10654, or An Act to Prevent, Deter and Eliminate Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing.
