Bataan prov’l gov’t aids fire victims in Orion: Gov Garcia

The provincial government of Bataan is extending aid to victims of a massive fire Tuesday in Orion town, Governor Albert Garcia said Wednesday.
According to Garcia’s Facebook page, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office have started distributing relief packs to the victims in coordination with the local mayor’s office.
Citing reports from the disaster risk reduction and management office, Garcia said an estimated 746 houses in the fishing village of Capunitan was razed by the fire.
Around 800 families were displaced and are seeking temporary shelter at the Capunitan Elementary School.
The fire was put out after responders from Orion, Abucay, Mariveles, Samal, Limay, Pilar, Dinalupihan and Balanga City arrived at the scene.
Garcia said that while relief goods from different government and nongovernment agencies and private groups are pouring in, calls for donations continue.
