Bataan politikos taking part in May polls sign peace covenant

Key officials of Bataan province who are vying for various positions in the May elections took part in an interfaith peace covenant signing last Saturday, Governor facdisclosed Monday.

Garcia, who is seeking for reelection, said that the event, held at the Saint Joseph Cathedral, was initiated by the Philippine National Police, the Army, the Commission on Elections and the Diocese of Balanga, led by Bishop Ruperto Santos.

The activity aims to ensure a peaceful, honest and orderly elections in the province on May 13.

Photos of the event shared on Garcia’s Facebook page showed the politikos preparing to set free some doves, verbalizing a pledge with their right hands raised, and signing on to an enlarged copy of the Integrity Pledge.

Aside from Garcia, other prominent politikos present in the event are his brothers, Bataan 2nd District Representative Jose Enrique “Joet” Garcia, and Balanga City Mayor Francis Garcia.(END)
