Bataan Gov Garcia to probe whether Petron ash fall connected to Limay folks ailments

The Bataan provincial government, under Governor Abet Garcia, will investigate to determine whether the ailments affecting some residents in Limay town are connected to the recent ash spill being blame on a coal-fired power plant of Petron Corporation.

And while the politiko is supportive of the continued growth of investors in the province, the Bataan governor is also mandated to look after the interest and health of his constituents.

Garcia’s decision to launch an investigation came residents near the Petron refinery in Limay developed skin diseases and experienced difficulty of breathing, among others, which they believe, was triggered by ash from the power facility.

Around 200 families have complained that the ashfall has affected the soil, plants, water supply, their houses, and sources of livelihood for the past two weeks.
